AK 47

The Real “Killer” Weed

Despite its vast popularity in the marijuana world and its near-universal acclaim, is actually a baby in many ways. Having only been born in 1992, AK-47 is too young to remember the Berlin Wall falling, the election of Bill Clinton, or the short-lived prime time animated comedy “Capitol Critters”. No matter how young or old you are, though, taking a puff of some real AK-47 will ensure that you don’t remember any of these things either.

Mostly Sativa "up" high

AK-47 is mainly composed of Sativa characteristics due to its sixty-five to thirty-five ratio of Sativa to Indica. This endows AK-47 with large leaves and healthy, dense buds that, despite their trappings, seem to give off a sweet and almost delicate sensibility that transcends the pungent and earthy nature of most Sativas. You’ll notice the buzz almost immediately after taking a rip and its fast arrival is in no way a sign that the exodus will be similarly swift or overly harsh. AK-47 stays with you the way a bullet stays lodged in your body.

Stoned in 1 hit!

These effects should come as no surprise to anybody who has borne witness to a nug of AK-47. With a dark, resin covered exterior, it is little wonder that one hit can get you ripped. Crystals adorn the entire compact bud, with healthy red-hair coverage throughout. This weed is so beautiful that smoking it is somewhat bittersweet. Fortunately, the taste in your mouth will be countered with the slightly spicy and somewhat floral zest that only AK-47 can provide. This is the taste you’re going for if you’re trying to grow some of your own but plenty of amateur growers have bastardized the AK-47’s good name by harvesting inferior nugs.

To be fair, climate plays a big part in how well you can grow your AK-47. This is why many growers will prefer to grow AK-47 indoors, where every aspect of temperature and humidity can be controlled. The plant grows just fine outdoors but how much it thrives and what it looks like depends on your weather. In lower temperatures, the bud’s become more compact and, despite their smaller size, they are far denser than you’d think. In warmer weather the buds become fluffier and expand in size not unlike cotton candy. Either way, the THC content is likely to be the same, hovering around twenty percent. The thing to remember, though, is that AK-47 has been bred to have a very fast finishing time. You will notice serious growth in under ten days in many instance and if you’re growing indoors, you can expect a harvest sometimes in under two months! The plants only grow to a medium size, which is kind of surprising for a Sativa but then again the flowering time is pretty rapid as well. You will have to remember to be wary when growing because the smell, while nice and enjoyable, is quite strong and it can quickly garner notice. If you did everything correctly, including removing male plants before flowering starts, you should start to see the beautiful nugs that have become a trademark of the AK. Make sure to harvest them before the crystals start to turn dark and with any luck you should have yourself a healthy harvest of one of the most beloved strains in the last twenty years!
